JOSEPH CARR
Joe joined Fideres in July 2025 after completing a PhD in competition economics from the University of East Anglia (UEA). His research focus was on the intersection between international trade and industrial economics, looking into how large superstar firms can dominate across multiple countries, and how these are often overlooked in contemporary analyses of competition. As part of his PhD he worked with the Competition and Markets Authority to publish the second State of Competition report, specifically providing improved measures of market concentration that account for large foreign firms and imports. Joe also holds an MSc in Industrial Economics from UEA where his dissertation on the competitive impact of foreign superstar firms was awarded the best mark in his year.
