Prof. Banal-Estañol
Albert Banal-Estañol is Associate Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) and City University of London. He is also Visiting Professor at College of Europe in Bruges, IESE Business School, and DIW Berlin. He is Director of the MSc in Finance and Banking at UPF-BSM and Deputy Director of BSE’s MSc in Economics of Energy, Climate Change, and Sustainability, and previously led the MSc in Competition and Regulation at City University of London.
With over 25 years of experience, his work focuses on corporate finance, competition policy and regulation, and energy and sustainability. He has published more than 35 articles in leading journals, including Management Science and Review of Financial Studies.
Prof. Banal-Estañol has provided written and oral testimony in numerous European matters involving corporate finance, complex valuation, competition, and energy. He has also advised regulators and institutions such as Ofgem, the European Commission, and the European Parliament, and delivered executive training for governments, regulators, and firms.
