PROF. HERVÉ STOLOWY
Hervé Stolowy is a Professor in Accounting at HEC Paris. He holds a Degree in Business Administration (ESCP – Paris), a Masters’ degree in Law, a B.A. in Russian and American Studies, a PhD in Financial Accounting, and an “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches” (“Qualified Doctoral Dissertation Supervisor”). His research spans accounting fraud, accounts manipulation, activist short sellers, sustainability, and international accounting harmonization.
Prof. Stolowy has over 90 publications in academic and applied journals. He has authored and co-authored ten books (including "Financial Accounting and Reporting - A Global Perspective", Cengage, Andover, UK, 7th edition, 2024, in collaboration with Yuan Ding and Luc Paugam), and chapters in 10 collective works.
He is currently an Editor of Contemporary Accounting Research and has held editorial positions including past (senior) Editor of European Accounting Review.
Prof. Stolowy is a certified “expert comptable” (French equivalent of a certified public accountant). He has been appointed as ad-hoc judicial accounting expert by various French courts, including the Court of Appeal of Paris.
Hervé Stolowy teaches financial accounting and reporting in the different graduate programs of HEC Paris: HEC Master of Science in Management – Grande Ecole, HEC-MBA Program and HEC-EMBA Program. He also teaches accounting fraud cases.
